Kidzania Shares Infinite Possibilities for Families During MCO

It is over two months into the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) with still a week to go before school reopens. Many parents are struggling with the challenge of entertaining bored, restless kids. Homebound and nowhere to go, KidZana Kuala Lumpur is answering the call of parents with their mammoth list of fun and interactive #KidZaniaAtHome activities to keep children learning, engaged and occupied.

Being out of the classroom does not mean that the learning process cannot continue. In fact, the opportunities and potential for learning abound just about anywhere. As we celebrate our 8th Anniversary this year as a City of Infinite Possibilities, we have put together some activities from which kids can learn a great deal in a fun and interactive manner. Parents, you can thank us later!

Shahrul Nizar Ahmad, Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur, subscribes to the idea that no matter where we are – even at home – learning can and should be a fun part of children’s lives. In line with Kidzania’s “Learn Life Today” philosophy, the following creative activities are fun, engaging, and educational.

1. A Little Chef is Born

Cooking

No more dine-ins? No problem! Now is the perfect opportunity for little ones to turn the tables, don their chef hats, and take charge of the kitchen – under watchful supervision of course!

4. Turn Your Little Talking Machine into a Podcaster

Let’s face it, kids love to talk especially when they are excited about something. Take the opportunity to channel those active thoughts into something productive by turning it into a podcast!

What is a podcast? It is akin to a radio show but instead of being broadcasted live, a podcast is recorded and shared online. It’s a great way to enhance communication skills and build confidence in your child as you provide them with a platform to express themselves and discuss things they are passionate about.

  • Step 1 Find your topic – for example, the best thing about not having to go to school or science experiments.
  • Step 2 Research the topic and collect some kool facts about it.
  • Step 3 Record it using the voice memo app on your phone and put upload it to ‘SoundCloud’. Alternatively, you can download the ‘Anchor’ app and record it there.
  • Step 4 Share the link with your friends and family (and with Kidzania!) so they can all tune in to your podcast.

5. Swanderful Service

Fight cabin fever and make staying at home more fun by bringing a touch of the hotel experience to your homes with some towel folding fun!

With a bath towel in hand, follow these simple steps to create your own swan towel:

  • Step 1  Fold the top corners downwards and inwards so that they meet in the centre
  • Step 2 Roll the outside edges inward towards the centre
  • Step 3 Fold the resulting arrow into a ‘Z
  • Step 4 Lastly, set the ‘Z’ down and squeeze the corners to set the curves

Towel folding is an easy way to keep the little ones occupied and entertained with minimal resources! Don’t forget to share your photos or video to win 1 FREE adult and kid admission ticket to KidZania Kuala Lumpur. All you need to do is tag Kidzania on your Facebook account and use these hashtags #KidZaniaAtHome #HotelSentral.

6. A Night in the Museum

Stay inspired while you stay indoors by giving life to the objects around you. All you will need is some toys, a big imagination, and a desire to role play!

Have the little ones turn the house into a museum by picking out some toys and pretend they have been uncovered by an archaeologist 100 years in the future. The toys are now the prized possessions at the National Museum.

Spice it up by:

  1. Writing out exhibit cards describing each toy.
  2. Asking how archaeologists in the future would explain the historical background of your toys?
  3. Describing why historians think a person 100 years ago would have valued this object.

7. The Thank-You Project

You are never too young to say, “Thank You” – especially now when our unsung heroes are leading the fight against the global pandemic that led to the MCO. Have your little ones join Kidzania in expressing gratitude and appreciation to the brave front-liners during this time of adversity.

You can:

  1. Whip out your craft kit and create a ‘Zank-You’ card.
  2. Gather the troops (at home) and make a short video to document your thank you messages! No fancy camera needed, just your trusty mobile phone.
  3. Create awareness by educating citiZens about good hygiene habits and social distancing through social media.

Kidzania would like to say ‘Zank-You’ to our faithful doctors, nurses, safety practitioners, sanitation officers, security personnel, and service workers who are tirelessly and selflessly working to do everything in their power to keep everyone safe. You have made history as Malaysian heroes and heroines.

Kidzania would also like to assure parents and visitors that KidZania Kuala Lumpur is putting in effect stringent safety protocols and precautionary measures. You can rest assured in the safety of the facility once it reopens.
