Preschool: My Little Home

My Little Home is a preschool, kindergarten and childcare center rolled into one.  Their aim is to be a one-stop-learning center for children from 18 months to 6 years old.

Following the Montessori Method, the children are taught life skills and academics side by side. For example, the toddlers are encouraged to self-feed (even if they make a mess) and to help clear their own cups and bowls. Toilet training is also provided.

They have three programs – toddlers, pre-school, and kindergarten. They offer a very flexible program where you can choose to have your child at school either 3 times a week or 5 times a week.

In the toddler program, you can opt for a 3 hour session (8:45am-11:45am), half day (8:45am-12:30pm), mid-afternoon program (8:45am-3:30pm), or full day (8:45am-3:30pm).

In the pre-school program, they have half day (8:45am-12:30pm), extended day (8:45am-1:30pm), mid-afternoon program, and full day program.

In addition to this, they also offer the following after school activities (parents/children can pick and choose the programs they want to add on – you can do all, none, one or a combination of these):

  • Bahasa
  • Fun zone
  • Vocabulary enrichment
  • Mathematics
  • Logico (a mind stimulating game)
  • Art and Craft
  • Mandarin
  • Music (Instrument)
  • Computers

My Little Home’s teacher/student ratio is 1:5 for the younger groups and all teachers are Montessori trained. Oh, yes, meals are provided. For more information, you can check their website or The Malaysian Childcare and Education Guide.

  1. Shen-li,
This seems like a good school. I am currently looking for a preschool for my 2 years old son. I might consider this school since it is Montessori based. But the fees is a bit pricey too. How many weeks / months in a term? If it is above RM1k then I might think twice.
    Thanks.

    1. Hi Kim – there are four terms in the year – 3 months each. I thought the price was quite fair based on the cost of other preschools I’ve seen. At the end of the day, you do want a decent preschool and you want trained and qualified teachers. There are schools that run without qualified teachers (Montessori programs where the teachers aren’t even Montessori trained!) so I was glad to hear that all the teachers in My Little Home are Montessori trained.

  2. Dear Shen-Li,
It has been awhile since you said that My little Home was your top list nursery for your child. I wonder if your child is still attending the nursery and how do you find the nursery now?

Well, I am a desperate mum looking for a good nursery for my son.

    1. Hi Wai Ling,

Yes it was. In fact it was either going to be My Little Home or Young Explorers in 1Mont Kiara. But my plan was not to send my son until he is 3 and he only just turned 2. I thought I would start looking early because the last time I was really unprepared and I sent my elder boy to the first school that seemed convenient without really checking any other places. I’m afraid I cannot comment further on either but my friend (mother of my god children) has sent her children to My Little Home and she has nothing but praise for the place.
