Thomas and Friends: A Circus Comes to Town – Live in Singapore!

Yesterday, my friend SM told me about a live performance of Thomas and Friends that would be screening in Singapore soon.  Being a mother of an avid Thomas fan, I decided to Google it to see what it was all about…

Apparently, from December 4-6, there will be a live performance of Thomas and Friends at the Singapore Indoor Stadium called “Thomas & Friends™ Live! On Stage: A Circus Comes To Town“.

Here’s the synopsis of the show:

“Percy, James, Gordon – and, of course Thomas – are headed your way! Join these engine friends, Sir Topham Hatt and the townspeople of Sodor for a one-of-a-kind not-to-be-missed live entertainment experience: Thomas & Friends™ Live! On Stage: A Circus Comes To Town.

The 90-minute musical adventure, produced by HIT Entertainment and AEG/ThemeSTAR, includes brand-new sing-a-long songs and a colorful cast of circus performers to tell the engaging story of how all the engines on the Island of Sodor must work together to prepare for the exciting event under the Big Top. Problems arise along the way, and Thomas has to prove he’s a really useful engine once again.”

It will be showing on Friday to Saturday at 4:30pm and 7pm, and again on Sunday at 11am.  Tickets range from S$38-68, plus a $3 booking fee per ticket and GST.  Unfortunately, there will be no free tickets for Gavin since any child above the age of 1 year will have to pay for a ticket.  However, if you book before September 27, you’ll get a 10% early bird discount.

Since the baby is due November 29, I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere.  Plus, with the arrival of the baby so close to the date, and the unpredictable nature of how Gavin will take it all, I think it would be a little risky to book tickets for him and Daddy to go down.  The last thing we need is for Gavin to decide he doesn’t want to go.

The good news is that they seem to have quite a number of live Thomas and Friends performances in Singapore.  Just googling “Thomas and Friends live Singapore” revealed another show last year and a recent one in Marina Square during the June school holidays this year.  There’s a brief video of that show which I’ve posted below.

So I guess even if Gavin misses this one, there will be others.  The only question I have now is why don’t they show things like this in Malaysia?  I’ve seen the tickets for Hi-5 in Genting Highlands, but nothing for Thomas.  I’m sure there are just as many Thomas and Friends fans in Malaysia than in Singapore – if not, more.  Let’s hope the organisers will plan one here for the next show.

  3. I’m not sure. Gavin, too, enjoys Thomas and Friends DVDs and can be pretty attentive for a sustained period of time – especially when watching the new episodes. Then again, 90 minutes is a long time for a child under 2. Perhaps might be safer to wait until your daughter is a little older. Even now I still hesitate to take Gavin to watch anything on the big screen.

The tickets aren’t cheap and the last thing you would want is to have to leave the show halfway…
