When JK Rowlings’ conclusion to her Harry Potter series was launched in Malaysia, there was an ugly price war where two hypermarkets decided they were going to sell the book at a fraction of the recommended retail price. In protest, four major book giants withdrew the book from their shelves.
The day the book was launch, die hard fans were queuing outside the hypermarkets waiting for the doors to open so they could snatch a limited copy of the “cheap” edition. Parents were reported to be pushing their children ahead and crawling under the roller-shutter doors commando-style. Even more shocking to read was that a disabled boy was pushed aside and trampled on in the mad rush to grab a copy of the book. That last really makes me disgusted – that people can be so hung up about a book that they forget how to be humane.

Indeed… I would love to wave my magic wand and teach them a lesson, but alas we aren’t supposed to reveal ourselves to them Muggles… *sigh*
