I got these in the email. Check out the print ads for a weight loss product below…

I think it sends the message home.

I remember when I had picked out my wedding dresses, the bridal store told me to come back again for a final fitting before the wedding so they could make any last minute adjustments. According to them, a lot of brides lose weight before the wedding and the dress needs to be adjusted again. Fortunately for them and unfortunately for me, I wasn’t one of those brides. The good news was that I didn’t gain any weight either.

If you’re looking for that extra special wedding cake, here’s a site to scope out: Just Heavenly. For more pictures of the stuff they make, you can take a look at the Just Heavenly blog. What are the cakes like? Well, I think the title speaks for itself. What I still can’t get over is the silver prada handbag. I seriously thought it was a picture!

I thought I’d post their link here because they make exactly the sort of cake I wanted for my wedding - not the fake stuff they display at the hotels, but the real McCoy. Anyway, I was lucky my SIL was around to make that extra special wedding cake I was looking for so I didn’t have to look too far.

Just Heavenly makes cakes for other occasions as well but I wanted to highlight their wedding cakes because they remind me of the wedding cakes I used to see when I attended the weddings in Australia. My idea of a real wedding cake is a multi-tiered, liquered fruit cake coated with mazipan and white icing where you can keep the top tier for your first anniversary or the birth of the first baby (whichever came first).

I’ve just realised I’ve never promoted what a great job my SIL did with our wedding cake until I was looking for a picture of the cake to show off…

My SIL had just completed her studies at Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney, Australia, and graciously agreed to make us our wedding cake. Here’s a picture of her masterpiece:

The privileges of being related to a chef. This is the kind of cake I’ve always wanted for my wedding (not the artificial 5 layer decorative pieces they put on display at the hotels where there is only a pie-shaped section that you can cut for a photo opportunity).
