sometimes people get a bit heated when talking about their 'favourite' scrapbook shops. But I think it will be great to have a more community minded...um well, scrapbook community:)

thanks for the list!

The initial intent of this blog post was to create awareness of all the different scrapbooking shops that I knew were available. As a person who is new to the hobby (albeit, not a diehard fan), I have been hunting around for places that sell scrapbooking materials for a photo project I started. I figured if I was interested to know where these shops are, then others who are like me would be as well. This post was not intended to put down any shops but to tell what I have observed exactly like it is.

Personally, I've always been one for freedom of speech where everyone is welcome to voice their opinions. However, I prefer that we keep those opinions to constructive comments and information about these shops which contribute value to new users who know little to nothing about scrapbooking. If Jazz thinks that ScrappingGlitz's range is limited then that is Jazz's opinion, although I don't agree with the way it was written because clearly ScrappingGlitz is trying hard to add value to the scrapbooking community and deserves the credit - let's be mindful of that.

I welcome the comments but please, let's keep it clean.

Scrapbooking is only a hobby. Through this hobby we meet all kinds of people. The social scrapper, the occasional scrapper and the die hard scrapppers! Then there are the scrappers who love the hobby so much that they are willing to either give up their job or on a part time basis, open up a small brick and mortar or online shop just to offer more variety in terms of quality in service and price to the consumer scrappers.

It is the consumer scrapper's right to choose which shop they want to patronage from. However, it is sad to see that some scrappers need to share negative comments, thoughts and feelings on the web, of the shops. This adverse effect will definately affect the particular embellishment and not forgetting the undue stress and feelings on the owners will also be affected. It is even sadder to know that one needs to bad mouth an establlishment at all after being treated with the utmost respect by the owner!

The community of scrappers in Malaysia is very small. Everyone are in the same forum, crop groups etc. Everyone knows each other or have met one another either virtually or physically. In my opinion, Malaysian scrappers are all wonderful scrappers who are willing to learn and improve their scrapping skills all the time. It is a very competitive hobby but fortunately its not as competitive as in the US. Let's everyone make new friends, strengthen current ones and not loose any........ as after all ...... this is just only a HOBBY!

Whoa, hold your tongue!! What's the matter with you, Jazz?

I've been to Scrapping Glitz and Scrap N Crop, both the owners are really nice. One thing for sure they are not as nasty as you are! If you do not like a certain shop, you should not put them down. Put your sarcasm in elsewhere!! Don't BITCH about it.

C'mon read my lips... this is only a HOBBY!! DUH!!!

Don't like ... then don't buy, nuff said!! We don't need such stucked up scrapbookers like you in the scrapbooking world!!!!

I have shopped with ScrappingGlitz before. I think what they are trying to introduce is an alternative store with varying options. They don't just buy for the sake of buying, they buy for the love of the art...and also don't buy in bulk. I did ask the owner, why they did not carry some brands, they told me that they bring in items that they feel are worth to be sold on their shelves, which I think is cool. I think the owners are more passionate about the art, and you can almost feel their excitement when they speak about their passion, and can be seen by the choices and their work. They seem exclusive.

I don't think it's fair to make such critical comments about a new business. We should support our scrapbooking community and we should provide positive encouragement and feedback. Give them a chance, they're still new.

I totally agree with Adore. Why the need to put other people's shop down? Scrapbooking is ultimately a hobby and the scrapbooking shopping should not be used as a "ammunition" to put people down. There is nothing wrong with a small shop. Sscrappingglitz is a small shop undoubtedly but it has just started only 3 months ago. Hence - it is very premature and immature to put this shop down. Plus the one that commented has benefitted the free shipping and freebies and on top from what you have commented - it is really not good behaviour to return a good favour from SG. Plus things that are said in confidence about the taxes etc - should NOT be published and aired for all to see.

Yes, SNC is definitely a bigger store - but it also took time for it to grow. Before I am being accused of siding SG, pls note that all the stores mentioned above are owned by my friends and I have no vested interest in it. I have actually been on the design Team of SNC and still is the MOderator of their forum. Please refrain from bitching as scrapbooking is all about preserving memories and not creating NIGHTMARE memories for those you put down. In future, kindly be reminded that other people have feelings too, especially when they have been kind to you. And to be put down by you in PUBLIC - it is not pleasant. Thank you.

yes, scrappy! i heard from the owner of scrap-n-crop that they are moving to a much larger premise to bring more goodies to us!!! isnt that awesome? i went to their new place just now and imagine a double story house of scrapbook, stamping and craft supplies! i almost died and went to heaven!!!! they also offer discounts to regulars who achieve a 6 monthly target i believe...but i have to say, for the 10% discount that craft haven gives you...scrap-n-crop is still more affordable even without membership discounts. the drive there is really worth your time!
