Positive Proof #5

Long before I read about the Secret, I had already been applying the Law of Attraction to certain aspects of my life.  The first time I ever really used it was when I asked for a parenting book based on scientific evidence.  Although it took some ten to fifteen years before the book appeared in my life, I know that it would have gone right past me if I had seen it any earlier.

The second time I used the Secret was when I wanted to stop practicing as a dentist and get a job in the corporate world.  I didn’t know how I was going to do it but I kept visualising myself in an office, wearing a suit and working on business partnerships.  One year later, I was hired by 3M.

The third time I used the Secret was when I wanted to shift jobs to a regional position.  One year later, I was offered a job by one of my competitors based out of Hong Kong.  Ironically, I turned the job down because I didn’t want to move to Hong Kong.  I shelved the idea of going regional and started thinking about getting into marketing.  Despite my lack of qualifications in business, I landed a position in the marketing department of Colgate-Palmolive six months later.

When I was with 3M, I used to have grand visions about how I wanted to inculcate good oral hygiene practices to the masses. My wish came true when I joined Colgate where we would run a program called oral health month and promote healthy teeth for life.

At the back of my mind, I think I was still yearning for the regional position but at the same time I was also getting tired of the corporate world.  When I finally quit working, all my requests for headhunters came calling, including the regional position based out of Singapore that I had wanted back when I was still working in 3M.  Even though they came at a time when I had already decided I had had enough of such jobs, the desire for that coveted position was obviously still present because I had a hard time turning the job down.

I used the Secret again when I was heavily into rock climbing.  I wanted desperately to be a good climber.  I remember being offered an opportunity to climb a route that was graded 7A back when my standard of climbing was at a 6A.  No amount of assistance could get me up the route.  When I went home, I wrote an entry into a journal that simply stated, “I don’t know how but one day I’m going to climb a 7A.”  About a year later, I bagged my 7A, followed closely by another two.

When I was a teenager, I said I wanted to be married with a house and children by the time I was thirty.  I am now thirty, married with a son and I have my house.

All things come to those who ask.  When I examine my life, I can see that I eventually got all the things that I asked for - not immediately, perhaps, but they came.
