After watching “The Secret” movie, I’ve decided to start my own personal project using what I’ve learned. At some unconscious level, I have always been aware of “The Secret” even if I didn’t actively apply it to every aspect of my life. Well, now that I can articulate it, I intend to use it.
Taking a leaf out of what I’ve watched, I’ve made a minor modification to the methods the presenters have used to apply the secret to their lives.
1. The first step to The Secret is to be grateful for all the things you already have in your life. Whether you acknowledge these things when you wake up, at the end of the day, write it out or just think about it, it is important to be happy with what you are. One of the presenters (I forget which one) used to carry around what he called a “gratitude rock”. Every morning he would put it in his pocket and carry it around with him. Whenever he touches it, he has to think of something that he is grateful for.
Instead of carrying around a gratitude rock, I’ve decided to write a daily “Gratitude Post” in which I will express at least one thing that I am happy to have in my life.
2. The second step is to visualise. They say that you choose what you want in your life by choosing what you want from the catalogue of the universe. Literally anything that exists in the universe can be yours if you ask for it.
Another presenter talked about using “Vision Boards” where he would paste pictures of all things that he wanted in life. This is my twist on that step - each day I will write a “Vision Post” where I will either post a picture or write an account of something that I want from the catalogue of the universe.
3. It wasn’t presented as a third step, but another important part of “The Secret” is that the mind doesn’t know what is made up and is real, therefore by filling your mind with the thoughts of the things you desire as if you already have them, they will naturally appear in your life.
To create this effect, I’m going to do something I used to do when I was really passionate about rock climbing and I wanted to climb better. I used to write diary entries of challenging routes I had red-pointed as if I had already climbed them. Initially, I did it just for fun, but after a while, they started to come true. Since it has worked for me before, I’ve decided to write post dated blog entries of how I anticipate my life will be like in 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years as if I were writing those entries at those designated times.
I have even enlisted the hubby’s help to make his own contributions.
One of the presenters said he started practicing The Secret and after thirty days, something miraculous happened. I can’t wait to see what happens at the end of my thirty days…
