Based on my understanding, metrosexuals are men who are in touch with their feminine side. They exhibit characteristics usually associated only with gay men but they are straight. For a further definition of a Metrosexual, you can check out Wikipedia or Urban Dictionary. Back in my day (oh gawd, now I really sound old…), he was known as a SNAG and, if you ask me, he was a rare species to find.

According to an article in The Age, it would appear that metrosexuals are on the rise, although the hubby would still beg to differ. I think that’s probably because he couldn’t tell I’d had a hair cut when a male friend I hadn’t seen in three months had spotted it almost immediately. Well, let’s be fair, I don’t always notice when he has had a hair cut either.

So if a metrosexual is a straight guy who is refined, cultured and well-dressed, then what do you call a woman who is not? Because I think I’m seriously in danger of falling into the latter category being a straight woman who is uncouth, unkempt and a sloppy dresser.
