I’ve always said that my parents are pretty atraditional and quite anti-superstitions, yet in spite of all their verbal affirmations on such topics, I’ve discovered that my mother has a weakness for fortune telling.

Without my knowledge, she has had my fortune read on two occasions that I am aware of. The first fortune informed her that I would travel far but eventually I would return to my country of origin (at least it was something to that effect). I wonder if they meant the country I was born in or the one I lived most of my life in?

The second reading told her that I would be blessed with many sons. That wasn’t something I’m particularly keen to know about since it is my desire that I will have two children - a boy and a girl.

Personally, I am a skeptic. I enjoy listening to fortunes for their entertainment value and nothing further. I have never been interested to hear my fortunes so long as there is anything remotely negative about it because I believe we have a tendency to live out our fears, therefore what I don’t know can’t hurt me. Whatever you hold fast to is what you will get, therefore hold fast to all that is good.
