Now that I’m married, I don’t seem to enjoy this festival as much as I used to.

I used to look forward to meeting people during Chinese New Year - especially the married ones, because I know they’ll have a little red present for me.

Now that I’m the one handing out those little red presents, I’m starting to feel a little like ol’ uncle Scrooge. Bah Humbug!

To add salt to the wound, in the first year of marriage, the couple has to hand out not one but TWO red packets! Good grief! As if the wedding wasn’t enough to make us broke already…
