Day two began at 7:30am with hair and make up. We headed first for Titiwangsa park to take some romantic shots as we walked down a garbage-strewn covered walkway. As one of the photographers mentioned, “Malaysia is a work in progress.” The next scene was amidst mosquito-ridden pine trees, followed by the bridge photos against a “picturesque” algae covered lake. I’m quite amazed how the photographers manage to find good angles out of a rather sorry backdrop.
We concluded the shoot near KLCC at the junction just before entering the undercover carpark. We were the center of attention at that intersection and nearly the cause of a couple of accidents as many cars slowed to watch what we were doing.
The shoot was done by lunch but I was so knackered by the time we hit home, I passed out for the rest of the afternoon after some nourishment.
Day 3 commenced even earlier as we were heading out to Port Dickson. Hair and makeup started at 6:00am and we were on the road at 8:30am. Desperate for a snooze, I could hardly close my eyes for more than a minute less my head fall back against the headrest and I ruin my hair. C was laughing at me everytime he glanced over to see my sleepy eyelids threatening to close. The only respite I had was that at least I didn’t have to wear the dress all the way to PD.
We made it to P’s house by about 10am so we could change into our proper outfits. However, barely twenty minutes into the shoot at a murky beach setting and the rain started.
It rained steadily for the next couple of hours with that fine mist that promised to rain on and on. Getting impatient, we decided to head out with some umbrellas and took some shots at the stretch near the golf resort.
The finale was the water shots. C was supposed to throw me into the water, but after seeing the condition of it’s murkiness, we decided against it. Then there was that questionable pipe leading out into the ocean. I think it was only too obvious what it housed…
In conclusion, I think we should stick to our day jobs. It has been confirmed without a doubt that C and I are about as romantic as two blocks of wood. You would have better success making a rock bleed than to get any realistic expression from the two of us.
Well, to be fair, it was hard to be naturally romantic when there are three cameras pointed at us like the paparazzi. Plus, it’s not everyday that I dress up in a gown with a train that keeps getting trampled on. Let’s face it, it’s not everyday that I even wear a skirt, let alone a puffy one with five layers over a cancan skirt. Half of the time I was too worried about ruining the dress to relax. Neither do usually I wear a mask of make-up that prevents me from taking my sleeve to wipe away the sweat from my face.
Thanks to a creative photographer, we were hand-held all the way on exactly how we should pose. It felt a little like making a movie or play acting. I found it’s not so easy to run along a beach laughing and smiling when you are barefoot and there are lots of sharp little stones and debris in the sand. It’s difficult to fight the temptation to look at the ground when you’re worried you might run over a piece of broken glass.
At the end of it, I think we should have just been ourselves, pulling our silly faces and none-too-graceful expressions. It might have looked more natural for us. At least, we had less repeats for the actions that came more normally for us. As they say… hindsight is wonderful.
The preliminary shots are out end of next week. Hopefully they won’t appear too staged.
