Recommended Home Exercise DVDs for Yoga
Some time back, I had resorted to using home exercise DVDs as a means of getting some much needed exercise aside from the usual weights workout that come as a natural part of looking after a baby/toddler. My attempts were rather short-lived because my son got to the point where he was no longer content to be kept occupied by inanimate objects. Persisting was also quite pointless because he figured out which was the stop button and could turn off the DVD on his own. For a while, my MIL helped out by watching him for an hour or so in the morning but because there are days when she’s really busy and since Gavin and I didn’t always wake up very early, I felt it was too much of an encumbrance upon her to ask her to help.
Recently, my SIL has been asking me to check out some Yoga Zone DVDs for her because she’s been feeling a little “soft around the edges” and wants to get back into shape. Having used Yoga Zone VHS (yes, those old video cassettes that aren’t even available any more) in th past, she positively swears by this series. Now that her VHS player has broken down, she’s looking for the DVDs.
I managed to find three from a series of six that she was looking for - Sunrise & Sunset,
Total Body Conditioning (this was a VCD copy, but it was selling for RM7.90 - what a bargain),
and Fat Burning.
After checking them out, I’ve been sorely tempted to try working out at home again. It appears that I’m also getting rather “soft around the edges” and I miss having a set of abs I was proud of.
Since having to workout around my son’s schedule, I generally prefer to use the DVDs that come with customisable 10 minute segments so that I don’t end up with too many “incomplete” workouts whenever my son decides it’s time for me to stop. However, Yoga Zone comes with two 20 minute workouts so it doesn’t require too much time to complete either. Now I wonder if my son will oblige me with a 20 minute break from motherly duties?
