Dark Caves, 2001

Published by figur8 at 4:21 pm under Caving, Dark Caves, Malaysia, Photos

As I sit and reminisce about the days of old…

While going through the old digital archive of photos I’ve amassed over the last six years, I came across a couple of photos from my very first caving experience. We went caving at Dark Caves which is a sealed section of Batu Caves (just off halfway up the steps to the main temple). Our visit to the Dark Caves was a guided tour with The Malaysian Nature Society (MNS).

All I have are a before and after shot because we were too busy crawling in mud to take photos inside. Okay, I exaggerate, it really wasn’t that bad, although there was one section where we had to squeeze through a hole like worms on our bellies.

Back then all I had was a film camera that wasn’t even mine so I wasn’t about to risk wrecking it in a cave. Regardless, I think these photos do give a bit of an idea of what we went through inside the cave.
