Hobby: RC Cars

November 29th, 2008 · Add Comments

RC racing is hobby that has been had increasing prominence around the world in recent times. RC racing allows the hobbyist to satisfy a craving for adventure without the risks. Instead, your hands control the car, while you watch in relative safety from a distance.

There are two types of RC cars available in the market these days - electric and gasoline powered RC cars. Electric powered RC cars are easy to run and maintain. They are also quieter. If you feel like racing, all you need to do is insert the batteries and run the RC car. As long as the parts are assembled correctly, all you need to do is turn it on and you’re ready to go. This makes electric powered RC cars a good choice for amateurs.

However, if you wanted a car that that offers performance and fun, you really need to look at the RC cars that run on gas. These RC cars are faster and more functional than electric powered RC cars. The catch is that they are also more complex, requiring more work and maintenance. Nevertheless, they are also more exciting.

Gas powered RC cars are the favoured by veteran racers because of their more realistic driving feel. In fact, if you run these models, you can hear the engine and feel the heart-thumping power that erupts from them. Another advantage of gas powered RC cars is that you do not need to wait for the batteries to recharge, you just refill the fuel and you can get back to the track again. The biggest down-side of these RC cars compared to electric RC car is cost.

Electric and gas powered RC cars both have their advantages and disadvantages. You have to weigh which of the two is more important to you. Just be sure that you are able to support your choice financially. Purchasing and maintaining an RC car that is fueled by gas can be an expensive hobby to maintain.

RC cars cost a lot more than the toy RC. Hobby stores specializing in RC cars are a lot more expensive because these stores are usually professional grade. These hobby RC cars, remote control helicopters, etc. are designed to perform like the real thing – real cars, trucks, boats and helicopters.

Some hobby-grade RC cars are unassembled while others come in a partially assembled RC car kit. However, if you don’t want the hassle of having to assemble it yourself or if you know nothing about it, then an assembled version of the RC car is probably the better option. Remember that it is better to let the experts do the assembly for you if you don’t know how to do it yourself.

For children who are interested in RC cars, you can start them off with RC toy cars which are designed for specifically children and amateurs alike. If their interest in this hobby continues, you can eventually migrate to the real thing.
