Are they for real?

I first saw this in action in the display window of a shop in Midvalley Megamall. To be honest, I didn’t even notice it. It was my son who was attracted to the tank with all the fish inside it. Suddenly I noticed that there was a pair of legs dangling in the fish tank! Upon closer inspection, I realised they were attached to a body!
What on Earth was this person thinking? I wondered to myself. When I peered into the shop, I noticed that she wasn’t mad. Over by another pond, a man was dangling his feet into it, too!
This weird phenomenon is the latest craze to have taken the Malaysian shopping malls by storm. Check out this tank that was set-up in The Alpha Angle. Pay RM5 and you get to dangle your feet in the same water that every other Tom, Dick and Harry with sweaty feet has been doing since who knows when they last changed the water!

According to the sign, the fish are supposed to “remove dead skin”, “micro-massage your feet”, and “improve the blood circulation” of your feet.

Here’s a closer shot of what it looks like.

The jury’s still out on this one, but it seems to be quite a popular spa treatment that started up around 2006. Personally, I think I’ll stick to the good old fashion foot massages and pedicures for now.
