In our world of instant gratification, there has been a growing consumer desire to have the cake and eat it too. The growing lack of patience has created a market of products that promise to deliver the goods easily and immediately. One particular industry that has thrived on such promises has been the weightloss industry. With their myriad of diet pills and slimming centers that not only promise to help you lose weight the easy way, but that you will lose weight in a week, in a month, etc. and arrive at your target weight in record time.
What concerns me about such promises is not so much whether they can deliver what they promise. It is that they can deliver it. Especially with the awareness that rapid weightloss of any kind is often accompanied by rebound weight gain, I tend to question programs that offer weightloss solutions that come about “instantaneously” or within extremely short time frames. Because even if you achieve your ideal weight with them, chances are you’ll be knocking on their door again a few months down the road when you’ve regained your weight and then some.
When it comes to weightloss, these are my tips:
- take it slow
- workout wisely
- eat moderately
