Is it over? These days, at the pace the internet moves at, what was introduced yesterday could be out-dated by tomorrow. Unfortunately for me, I only just discovered BlogRush, although it appears to have been around for at least a month or two already. I read about it on Entrepreneur’s Journey and decided to try it out for myself.
What is BlogRush?
If you haven’t already heard about BlogRush, it is basically a pretty cool widget that allows you to advertise your latest blog posts across a series of related blogs for free. It was created by John Reese, the CEO of Income.com and it based on a similar concept to Hits2u (a marketing concept that allows you to advertise your website for free), except this one is created specifically for blogs.
How does it work?
After signing up for an account, you simply enter the details of your blog (title, url, feed and category) and you’ll be given a widget to add to your blog. You can add the widget anywhere on your blog of your choosing and it creates something that looks like the box you see in the right titled “From the Blogosphere”.
To get your blog posts listed, you need to have “syndication credits” which you can earn everytime your blog generates an impression of the widget (i.e. whenever someone visits your blog). You can also earn syndication credits by referring new BlogRush users who then generate their own impressions of the widget. You are credited up to ten generations of referrals – so if you refer A, who refers B, who refers C, who refers D, who refers E, who refers F, who refers G, who refers H, who refers I, who refers J, you will earn syndication credits for page impressions generated by all referrals from A to J. Simply put, it’s like viral marketing or network marketing.
The more syndication credits you earn, the more times your blog posts will be “advertised” on the widget, which then leads to more traffic to your blog. In the blogosphere where the little known blogs are starved of attention, this is one free method of generating traffic to your blog.
Just how much traffic can it generate for your blog? Well, I don’t know yet – I’ve only just started trying it out. It’s still relatively new, so I reckon it’s definitely worth giving it a go – and it comes with the magic word – it’s FREE! What have you got to lose? Nothing except some free traffic to your blog, so why not check it out?
