My FIL has a favourite armchair in the TV room that we bought for him for his birthday.  Everyone in the family knows this is my FIL’s armchair.  Whenever my FIL is around, no one but my FIL gets to sit in the chair.  It’s just an unspoken understanding.

The TV is also my FIL’s.  Whenever he’s around, he always gets first dibs on what’s what we’re watching on the TV – usually a movie, Animal Planet, or some Chinese serial.

One day, daddy comes home and he sees Gavin sitting on Ah Kong’s armchair (Ah Kong has been relegated to another chair).  They’re both watching Thomas and Friends…

The inside story was this:

Ah Kong was happily sitting in his chair watching his own program.  Gavin came along and asked him to change the channel to Play House Disney.  Then he took Ah Kong by the hand and led him to the kitchen and said, “Ah Kong stay here.”  Gavin ran out of the kitchen.  When Ah Kong took a peek out of the kitchen, he saw his grandson sitting in his armchair happily watching the TV.

Ever since then, Gavin has become the new boss of the armchair and the TV…
