2 Important Lessons from Parenting

Welcome back to Babylicious! Thanks for visiting again. If you've enjoyed reading my blog, subscribe to my RSS feed to get regular updates on what's new at Babylicious.

Since becoming a parent, I have discovered two very important lessons:

1. What goes around comes around.

2. Never say “never”.

It was the hubby that learned the first lesson the hard way.  Before Gavin was born, he used to criticise children who screamed in restaurants.  He even made himself a promise that no child of his would scream in a restaurant.

Now, he is the abashed father of a little screamer.

As for the second lesson…  I feel I know it all too well.  I was never going to let my child watch TV before the age of two.  I was never going to give my child sweets and treats before the age of two.  I was never going to bribe my child into good behaviour.  Ah… the list could fill a whole page, but I think you get the picture.

    Shen-Li,

With regards to No.2 – I also used to said never let Em watching TV before 2, well…now at least I still can limited her watching under 2 hours per day, but if she is poorly stayed at home it will be 3~4 hours per day…luckily I still managed to persuade her that the DVD player is very hot, can we let its cold down first, otherwise, when DVD player is angry, or if is raining, I will telling her during the rain isn’t safe to watching TV, coz the Thunder & Lightening isn’t safe to watching TV, you won’t be able to watching Dora…heh x3, so far these trick still working to her…but soon she found out it wasn’t real. opps~~ :)

Hehe… I guess it’s very different when you’ve never been a parent before. Once you have kids, you realise just how difficult it is. Like my Mum used to say, “Wait until you become a mother, then you’ll know!” She was so right.
