Summary of Milestones
September 18th, 2007
Over the last five weeks, Gavin:
- turned seven months
- rolled from his front onto his back without needing me to entice him with a toy
- demonstrated his rolling prowess by moving across the room to an object of his interest
- learned to get up on all fours
- learned how to rock backwards and forwards while on his hands and knees
- learned to move backwards commando-style (much to his frustration since he was moving further and further away from the object of his desire)
- learned to stand by himself while holding onto the back of a chair
Regressions over the last five weeks:
- After making good progress with his toilet training and even joining the ”mile-high” club when he took his first poop in the aeroplane toilet, Gavin suddenly developed an intense dislike to being held over the toilet. Despite trying to warm up the bathroom, Gavin seemed to prefer pooping into the diaper than having his bottom exposed.
Other things I learned in the last five weeks:
- Gavin hates showers, which he made clear with some rather vocal howling as soon as the water hit his back. I thought at first he just didn’t like taking a bath because the weather was cold, but I soon discovered that he was all too happy to have a bath irregardless of the weather just as long as I didn’t turn on the shower head.
- Gavin has been developing quite a little temper, throwing a hissy fit whenever I take an object away from him before he is ready to relinquish it. In fact, he’ll howl the moment he isn’t happy about anything.
- Flying with a baby really isn’t as bad as I had feared. In fact, quite a number of passengers commented that Gavin was a really good baby.
- Taking the night flight much easier than a day flight because a bored infant can be quite a handful when there’s turbulence and you aren’t allowed to leave your seat.
