Just as the doctor predicted, Gavin’s memory is starting to play a more active role. Besides being wary of strange new faces, he now remembers objects. For instance, since he got sick, the hubby and I have had to feed him his medication using a measuring dropper. After the first time, he’s now cued to the visual stimulus of witnessing the dropper. He’ll start to cry the moment he sees the dropper.
It isn’t just the dropper that he is cued to either. To help wash down the taste of the medicine, I would put Gavin on the breast to take some milk. As if in protest of what we just put him through, he would refuse to drink any milk. I thought at first it was because his nose was stuffy and he was having difficulty suckling. After a while, I realised that he refuses to take milk only at the place where we tried to give him the medicine - at the foot of our bed. If I move him to a different spot, he’ll drink.
