Gavin has discovered that actions produce effects.  For instance, when he threw his dolphin on the mat, it bounced back and smacked him on his face.  My SIL managed to capture this momentus event on camera (albeit the image is a little blurry). 

Ever since then, Gavin swings his dolphin with caution - he squints his eyes in case it comes back to hit him.

Gavin has also learned to anticipate actions.  When my SIL started blowing air at his face through a cardboard tube (like the kind you find in your toilet paper roll), he starting squinting his eyes in anticipation whenever he sees her holding up the cardboard tube to her mouth even before she blows any air.
