When I was little, my mother used to lament that both my brother and I never looked anything like her. She used to joke that we were swapped at birth and I might have believed her too if it weren’t for the fact that both my brother and I were straight from Dad’s cookie-cutter. I used to look for features of mine that belonged to my Mom and I now know I have her lips, hands and feet.
When Gavin was born, everyone remarked what a chunk off the old man’s block he was. There was little or nothing about how he looked like Mommy. After searching, these are the features he shares with me - his feet and his eyebrows.
I wanted to claim his hands too, but on closer inspection, I think they look more like his paternal grandfather’s hands.
Well, at least he has something of mine…
