I stepped on the bathroom scale this morning and I swear something didn’t seem right. It said I had gained 2kgs since my last visit to the doctor, which was on Wednesday. 2kgs in 3 days?!!! Is that possible? I haven’t exactly been vigilant over what I eat, but then again, I can’t imagine that I could’ve gained 2kgs from food consumption over the last three days. If it weren’t for the fact that the bathroom scales concurred with the doctor’s scales on Wednesday, I would have sworn that it was time to get a new set of scales.
They say that excessive weight gain associated with swelling in the hands and face could be pre-eclampsia. Then again my blood pressure checked out okay during my last visit to the doctor so I’m inclined to think that this isn’t a case of pre-eclampsia. Perhaps I’ve just underestimated how much I’ve consumed over the last few days… I promise that from tomorrow onwards, I’m going to cut back on all the sweets.
It’s another five more days before Gavin is officially due. I don’t know if I’m just being hopeful but it does seem as though my bump has dropped a little. I wonder if Gavin’s made any further progress in descending? My night toilet frequency is still fairly high.
All seems to be going well. Gavin’s activity remains quite frequent. The swelling in my feet no longer dissipates overnight. Here I was thinking I had escaped the worst of the swelling… Sometimes the skin feels really tight and I can feel my feet pinching when I walk. My shoes are getting tighter and when I remove my slippers, the straps are imprinted on my feet. On most days my ankles have a perpetually sprained look. There is the occasional odd day when the swelling appears to be better although I can’t figure what it was that I did differently on that day to make it go down.
I was supposed to go for a photoshoot today to capture some pictures with Gavin in my tummy before he comes out to greet the rest of the world but it rained cats and dogs. The shoot has been postponed to tomorrow afternoon. From this aspect, I suppose it’s a good thing Gavin’s in no hurry to come out otherwise AR will be shooting our photos at the hospital.
My Dad arrived last night with more stuff for Gavin - I’ll take some pictures and post them up in the next post. Mum will be flying in next Sunday. The maid is arriving any day now - I’m glad that’s been resolved. We were quite annoyed with the agency since it took them nearly four months when ordinarily these things should only take 1-2 months.
Other than that, things are pretty much status quo. And so we continue to wait…
